Random Acts of Kindness Campaign
The AHS GSA has recently launched a "Random Acts of Kindness" campaign at Animas High School. We have handed out free pencils, delivered snacks to an advisory group, and provided envelopes of spare change at our vending machines. More random acts of kindness will be coming throughout the semester.

Non-Gender Specific Dress Code
The AHS GSA advocated to the administration to make changes to the wording of the Animas High School dress code. Currently the dress code states that Girls may wear...and Boys may wear...We have proposed removal of the word boy and girl so that the dress code simply states what constitutes appropriate clothing and students will be allowed to choose their clothing based on the gender they identify with. A survey was given to the student body and 85% of those who participated supported the proposed change.
Members of GSA were concerned about some comments made by students, which used degrading, aggressive language. In order to address this, the GSA is hoping to work with PEAT (Prejudice Elimination Action Team)to implement a lesson in advisory that promotes acceptance and kindness throughout our community.
